Crime kiosk allows the accused (low-income people) to pay court fees 24/7
(Police state America has come up with another way to keep us indebted to the system, 24 hour EZ Pay or ATM pay machines. They'll surely spread across the country.)
PA - The latest computer kiosk in Bucks County is making it more convenient to pay your debt to society.
Two weeks ago, the government launched a pilot program of computers that allow people to pay court fees and restitution using cash or a credit card at the machine.
The first EZ Pay kiosk, set up at the adult probation office in Warminster, “simply gives residents another option in paying restitution,” said Mary Smithson, Bucks County clerk of courts.
So far, only one device has been installed inside the probation office on Louis Drive in the township, Smithson said.
The machine’s designer said similar kiosks could someday be installed throughout Bucks, allowing residents to pay child support, taxes or even municipal water bills.
“Our machines could be open 24/7,” said Paul Talbot, president of EZ Pay Corp. “We certainly don’t see this as a way to replacing people,” he added. “Our system handles credit cards and cash. We’re freeing up government workers from the task of just counting up money all day.”
The firm, based in Denver, operates machines in 19 states, Talbot added.
EZ Pay convenience comes at a price, though. Customers are charged a $2.99 transaction fee to use the kiosk in Warminster.
A similar program run by the Administrative Office of the Pennsylvania Courts allows users to pay court fees and restitution online. The AOPC charges a “non-refundable convenience fee” of $2.75 for each transaction submitted. Transactions are limited to $1,000 each. http://www.phillyburbs.com/my_town/warrington/crime-kiosk-allows-the-accused-to-pay-court-fees/article_81ebc239-4cc3-572f-9fc2-17428194285b.html
