DHS latest propaganda message "How DHS helps keep our nation safe."

The Department of Homeland Security, as of 10:15 a.m. EDT Tuesday, was featuring on its home page a message explaining "how DHS helps keep our nation safe."
Clicking on the featured story -- "A Day in the Life of DHS" -- takes visitors to a page showing what DHS is doing by "air, sea, land, or in cyberspace" to protect Americans.
"Every day, DHS employees all over the country work to protect the American public from a range of threats, including terrorism, natural disasters, cyber attacks and other emergencies and disasters.
Whether by air, sea, land or in cyberspace, DHS vigilance over the last ten years helps keep our nation safe."
The feature includes a chart showing how the DHS keeps busy with screenings, seizures, confiscations, inspections, patrols, citizenship verifications and other activities.
On the DHS home page, right below the featured “Day in the Life of DHS," is a statement on the Boston explosions from Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
She writes: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone impacted by this incident in Boston, especially the families and loved ones of the victims. Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies continue to respond and at the President’s direction, the Department of Homeland Security is providing any support necessary in this ongoing investigation. We encourage the public to be vigilant, and to listen to direction from state and local officials.”

DHS wasted money on seminars like “Did Jesus Die for Klingons too?”, trained for a “Zombie Apocalypse” and launched wars for oil instead of actually focusing on anti-terror efforts:
Initially, a large amount of the homeland security spending has been wasted … producing “a bunch of crap”.
For example, spending money on zombie apocalypse training or other silly programs is a bad investment which led to a false sense of security.
Spending defense money on a workshop called “Did Jesus die for Klingons too?” and DOD-run microbreweries is probably not helping stop terrorist attacks.
Moreover, using homeland security resources to spy on average Americans or crack down on peaceful protesters or government critics distracts from getting the actual bad guys.
We have given up the fundamental rights which make us American.
The government insisted that – if we gave up our liberties – it would keep us safe.
It has failed to do so, and has instead squandered our national treasure, our resources and our troops on efforts which have only increased the risk of terrorism.

Father and son claim DHS defamed them:
Brownsville, TX - An immigration officer claims in court that the Department of Homeland Security defamed him and his father, claiming they worked for a Mexican drug cartel and that the son went on a "cocaine snorting binge."
Sergio A. Luna and his father Sergio Alberto Luna Saldivar sued DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano and six other DHS officials in separate, but nearly identical, federal lawsuits.
Sergio Luna still works for the DHS, he says in the complaint.
The complaints contain an alphabet soup of acronyms: OIG for Office of the Inspector General, SAIC for Special Agent In Charge, IEA for Immigration Enforcement Agent, OPR for Office of Professional Responsibility and SA for special agent.
The son's complaint states: "On or about April 17, 2012, IEA Luna was served with a propose to remove letter by the DHS. The DHS' propose to remove letter also provided IEA Luna a Report of Investigation (ROI) completed by the DHS' OIG and the Officer of OPR.
"Within the ROI, the OIG presented an Investigative Summary (IS) citing that the 'Reporting Agent' SAs Camilo Garcia, and the 'Approving Official' as SAIC Gene Pedrara, both executed the IS on July 14, 2011. The SAs cited that:
The SOIs [sources of information] state that IEA Luna allegedly offered narcotic smuggling organizations based out of Matamoros, MX protection from law enforcement as narcotic laden vehicles are transported within South Texas.
"'According to the SOIs, IEA Luna's father was previously a member of a narcotic smuggling organization based out of Matamoros, MX. The SOIs state IEA Luna and his father remain in contact with the organization.'
"IEA Luna is alleged to have been on a cocaine snorting binge."
Sergio Luna claims the defendant DHS officials first these statements in November 2009, he did not know about it until the agency served him with the proposal to remove letter in April 2012.
Luna and his father both deny all the allegations.
"IEA Luna categorically denies that he ever offered '... narcotic smuggling organizations based out of Matamoros, MX, protection from law enforcement ...'
"IEA Luna categorically denies that he was ever and/or remains '... in contact with the narcotic smuggling organization.'
"IEA Luna categorically denies that he participated in 'a cocaine snorting binge."
